FULL DESCRIPTION
When Maker’s Mark was first put into production back in 1954, most bourbons on the market were using rye in their mashbill. Maker’s mark literally went against the grain and chose to use red winter wheat over rye, giving their bourbon a distinctively smooth front-of-palate sweetness. Maker’s Mark takes pride in doing things by hand, rotating each barrel to maintain consistency and hand-dipping their distinctive bottle in its signature red wax.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Bright caramel.
Nose: Banana bread, caramel and vanilla.
Taste: Creamy French vanilla ice cream, honeycomb with almond notes.
Finish: Smooth, warming cinnamon and mellow oak notes.
Overall: Smooth, easy drinking whiskey.

Connoisseur

Distilling was most likely brought to present-day Kentucky in the late 18th century by Scots, Scots-Irish, and other settlers (including English, Irish, Welsh, German, and French) who began to farm the area in earnest. The origin of bourbon as a distinct form of whiskey is not well documented. There are many conflicting legends and claims, some more credible than others.
