One of the distilleries unpeated expressions, the Origin is full of golden caramels, spice and tart fruit notes. Due to the distilleries tall still shape, the spirit is on the lighter side which makes it a great introductory malt for a budding Scotch enthusiast.

Appearance: Brilliant amber.
Nose: Lightly toasted cereal and heather.
Taste: Apples and spice with rich caramel fudge.
Finish: Hints of allspice that melt away into a honey-sweetness
Overall: A bright malt with layers of sweetness that are broken up by acidic green apples and warm spices.

An excellent malt to introduce people to the world of scotch, it’s light and sweet which makes it extremely accessible. Quite a unique Island malt, with almost no briny or peaty characteristics, if you’re a fan of Lowland malts you will definitely enjoy the Jura Origin.

If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Jura Origin 10, you could also try Glenkinchie 12 or The Arran 14.

Scotch whisky is a very broad category consisting of various styles, regions and production methods. It is commonly thought that the knowledge of distillation was brought to Scotland (and Ireland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.
