The characteristically fruity, smoky notes of Bowmore are topped off by the richness of a sherry-finish in perfect harmony. Somehow Bowmore has managed to get more flavours and complexity into their whisky without compromising anything we loved from their 12-year-old expression.

Appearance: Blood orange.
Nose: Raisins, ripe berries and the rich smoke.
Taste: Toffee, oaky woodiness and tart fruit jams.
Finish: Cinnamon spice, dark chocolate, tobacco and burnt molasses.
Overall: The smoke is still very full and rich, but now the other characters have also become chewy. Fruit notes are riper, spice is warmer and more woody.

A very unique and interesting dram from Bowmore, one no whisky collection should go without.

If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Bowmore 15, you could also try Talisker Port Ruighe, Jura Superstition or Lagavulin 16.

Scotch whisky is a very broad category consisting of various styles, regions and production methods. It is unclear whether Ireland or Scotland was the first to produce whisky but it is likely that the practice became common in both countries concurrently. It is commonly thought that the knowledge of distillation was brought to Scotland (and Ireland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.

Bowmore Distillery

Whisky made on the island of Islay, from one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

Any fans of sherry cask-finishes will appreciate this dram. It’s also quite refreshing as there are not a lot of whiskies has heavily influenced by sherry as this coming out of Islay.

Water, Malted Barley, Yeast.
