TT Live Session Irini Arabatzi

Irini Arabatzi

For our last TT Live Session we were privileged to be joined by up-and-coming jazz musician, Irini Arabatzi, playing alongside her brother, Mano and Harry Christelis. The trio managed to squeeze themselves, their instruments and all their kit into the corner of the Cellar Bar’s intimate back area–no mean feat–and together they treated us to a truly special performance and a masterclass in intimate gigging. Their collective sound was entrancing, almost resonating on a therapeutic frequency.

Irini’s whole set was something to behold, but highlights included No Matter What (For U)–a song that was already on heavy rotation in the TT Cellar Bar for a few weeks preceding Irini’s show–the track’s haunting piano was replaced with sparse, ethereal guitar and it’s choral vocals were even more impactful in person. I’m a Joke (For W) followed, it’s light twinkling melody and fluttering, playful vocals created an uplifting atmosphere while communicating themes of introspection, self-love and independence.

Free Entry

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Irini, Mano and Harry for their enchanting performance, and of course our talented soundman Lucas, without whom we wouldn’t be able to produce such vibrant sounds in such an unconventional space. And to everyone who came through, and continues to join us for our TT Live Sessions, we’re constantly grateful for your support.

TT’s Head of Music, Chris P Cuts has managed to consistently program exciting artists from across the UK and the world, playing a huge range of styles and genres on the first Tuesday of every month. For our next TT Live Session, we’ll be joined by Lianna, an incredibly talented artist from Colombia who’ll be stopping by the TT Cellar Bar as part of a whistlestop European tour. For all our Live Sessions, entry is free but seats are only available until they aren’t, so we always recommend getting down early, grabbing a couple of Hennessy cocktails from our exclusive Live Sessions menu, catching Chris’s vinyl set early on and securing yourself a prime spot to see the performance.

Irini Arabatzi’s debut EP drops in June on independent South London label, Albert’s Favourites and if Tuesday’s preview was anything to go by it will be well worth a listen. Until next time, a big thanks again to Irini, Mano, Harry, Lucas, Chris and everyone who came along.

  • Our music philosophy, in one word, is “SOULFUL.” It’s a journey through Disco, Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk and everything in between coming in two forms; intimate, stripped-back live sessions, featuring new performers on the first Tuesday of every month, and resident DJs and guest headliners taking care of the soundtrack throughout the building the rest of the time.

All our music programming is curated by head of music Chris P Cuts.
