Powers whiskey production dates back to 1791 when James Power, a Dublin Innkeeper decided to start his own distillery. Today Powers Gold Label is produced at Midleton Distillery but the Powers John’s Lane is named after the original distillery in which Powers Whiskey was created. Single pot still whiskey matured for at least 12 years in primarily in American oak casks.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Deep gold.
Nose: Cocoa beans, charred oak and tobacco.
Taste: Cinnamon and vanilla followed by honeyed apricots.
Finish: Lingering honey sweetness on toasted oak.
Overall: A matured, distinctive honey spiced whiskey.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Midleton is widely acknowledged as Irish whiskey’s spiritual home. In 1966, John Jameson, Powers, and the Cork Distillery Company formed Irish Distillers and in a bid to make sure their future was tenable, closed all their existing distilleries and merged into one site in Middleton, Cork. This was the only site big enough for expansion. Middleton is now one of the largest and most modern distilleries in the world boasting three 75,000 litre pot stills.
