Alcoholic spirits originally found their place as a “cure all’ in medieval Europe. Gin was the next step, incorporating the medical benefits held in plants. Various botanical elements were thought to have different health giving properties most notably in the case of gin, juniper. When mixed with spiritus alcohol a rudimentary medicine was formed and became popular all over the continent.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Scapegrace is distilled at the foothills of the ice-capped Southern Alps of New Zealand where their exclusive batches are lovingly handcrafted. Skilfully blended using crystal clear Southern Alps waters, and exotic botanicals, collaborating artistically in a hand beaten 19th century John Dore copper still. All resulting in the finest gin.

ABOUT THE LIQUID
Scapegrace Gold was created by two men who didn’t know each other until one married the other man’s sister and became his brother in law. After a year of sitting in bars and lounges discussing how they always wanted to make their own gin, they decided to create Scapegrace – an artisan dry gin with a New Zealand slant. This is how two brothers-in-law and a part-time musician got into a lot of debt and created a gin that has won the World’s Best London Dry Gin.
