Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
Powers whiskey production dates back to 1791 when James Power, a Dublin Innkeeper decided to start his own distillery. Today Powers Gold Label is produced at Midleton Distillery and is a quintessential Blended Irish whiskey, triple-distilled pot still, a combination of malt and grain whiskies that is aged in ex-bourbon barrels. The Powers Gold Label is a non-chill filtration whiskey that captures the heart and soul of Irish whiskey.

Gift

Yes, Jameson is the most widely known Irish whiskey, but if you’re in a pub in Ireland and ask for a glass of whiskey you’ll be handed a Powers Gold Label. Extremely affordable, why wouldn’t you grab this Irish expression to add to your collection?

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Powers Gold Label, you could also try Jameson Select Reserve, Bushmills Original or Tullamore D.E.W.

Connoisseur

Irish whiskey was once the most popular spirit in the world and has been massively on the rise in popularity in recent years. Ireland and Scotland both lay claim to being whisky’s original creator but it’s likely both nations developed a similar product at around the same time. The knowledge of distillation is commonly thought to have been brought to Ireland (and Scotland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.

DISTILLERY
Midleton Distillery

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Midleton is widely acknowledged as Irish whiskey’s spiritual home. In 1966, John Jameson, Powers, and the Cork Distillery Company formed Irish Distillers and in a bid to make sure their future was tenable, closed all their existing distilleries and merged into one site in Middleton, Cork. This was the only site big enough for expansion. Middleton is now one of the largest and most modern distilleries in the world boasting three 75,000 litre pot stills.
