Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
The first new Maker’s Mark expression to be put into production for at least 50 years. Maker’s 46 starts with fully matured Maker’s Mark at cask strength, which is then left to finish for a bit longer with seared virgin French oak staves inserted into the barrel. By doing this, subtle spice and texture are imparted into the whiskey, making Maker’s 46 a more complex expression.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Mahogany.
Nose: Floral spice and French oak.
Taste: Chai spice and creamy vanilla.
Finish: Caramel sweetness with charred oak.
Overall: Bolder than it’s younger sibling but still maintains its smoothness.

Gift

A modest step up from the younger Maker’s Mark in both complexity and price. The Maker’s 46 is sure to please any Maker’s Mark fan.

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Maker’s 46, you could also try Basil Hayden’s, Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve.

Connoisseur

The French oak staves that are added to the casks are heavily toasted not charred. Treatment of the staves is called Profile 46, which is where the distillery got the Maker’s 46 name. Makers Mark believe that this provides more vanilla notes without the added bitterness of further aging.

DISTILLERY
Maker’s Mark Distillery.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Originally Burk’s Distillery constructed in 1885, the origins of Maker’s Mark began when T. William Samuels Sr bought the distillery in 1953. Production began the following year.

ABOUT THE LIQUID
A bolder and more complex expression from the Maker’s team.

INGREDIENTS
Corn 70%, Wheat 16%, Barley 14%.
