Description
FULL DESCRIPTION
Handcrafted in limited quantities, Knob Creek is a small batch bourbon made to reflect the character of pre-prohibition era whiskey. Bottled at 100 proof, Knob Creek packs a punch, but this is balanced out by its lengthy maturation period. The mashbill of Knob Creek has a high rye content giving the whiskey its spicy nose and adding to the peppery notes on the front of the palate.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Deep copper.
Nose: Wood and spice with honeyed almonds.
Taste: Caramel, hard fruit candies with white pepper up front.
Finish: Cinnamon and buttery vanilla.
Overall: Honest, old-school style Bourbon.
Gift
If the person you’re buying for wants to drink like a prohibition era bootlegger, but you’d rather they not be knocking back methylated spirits, get a bottle of Knob Creek. Or maybe they’ve watched Mad Men and want to emulate Don Draper? Whatever the case, get them a bottle of Knob Creek.
RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Knob Creek, you could also try Rittenhouse 100, Wild Turkey 101 or Booker’s.
Connoisseur
Distilling was most likely brought to present-day Kentucky in the late 18th century by Scots, Scots-Irish, and other settlers (including English, Irish, Welsh, German, and French) who began to farm the area in earnest. The origin of bourbon as a distinct form of whiskey is not well documented. There are many conflicting legends and claims, some more credible than others.
