Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
The Glenmorangie Lasanta joins the distilleryŐs wide range of cask-finished expressions. ‘Lasanta’, meaning ‘warmth and passion’ in Gaelic, is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a combination of both ex-oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. By doing this Glenmorangie have certainly managed to add spice and depth.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Polished bronze.
Nose: Vanilla and raisins, ripe mango.
Taste: Sticky toffee pudding, walnuts and cinnamon spice.
Finish: Hints of citrus cut through but there is lots of chocolate and spice.
Overall: Rich fruit and spice notes persist through this malt and are backed up by Glenmorangie’s characteristically smooth sweet style.

Gift

Glenmorangie’s range of cask-finishes are all very approachable, it’s a great option for someone who has recently really got into scotch. As in, they have tried a few expressions for the different regions and might want to start looking at how production and ageing methods can manipulate flavour.

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Glenmorangie Lasanta, you could also try Arran Amarone, Auchentoshan Three Wood or Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask.

Connoisseur

Scotch whisky is a very broad category consisting of various styles, regions and production methods. It is unclear whether Ireland or Scotland was the first to produce whisky but it is likely that the practice became common in both countries concurrently. It is commonly thought that the knowledge of distillation was brought to Scotland (and Ireland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.
