The Glenmorangie Lasanta joins the distilleryŐs wide range of cask-finished expressions. ‘Lasanta’, meaning ‘warmth and passion’ in Gaelic, is aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in a combination of both ex-oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. By doing this Glenmorangie have certainly managed to add spice and depth.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Polished bronze.
Nose: Vanilla and raisins, ripe mango.
Taste: Sticky toffee pudding, walnuts and cinnamon spice.
Finish: Hints of citrus cut through but there is lots of chocolate and spice.
Overall: Rich fruit and spice notes persist through this malt and are backed up by Glenmorangie’s characteristically smooth sweet style.
Gift
Glenmorangie’s range of cask-finishes are all very approachable, it’s a great option for someone who has recently really got into scotch. As in, they have tried a few expressions for the different regions and might want to start looking at how production and ageing methods can manipulate flavour.
