Description

Devil’s Botany is the UK’s first dedicated absinthe distillery. Based in East London, the Devil’s Botany range of absinthes are traditionally distilled with British wheat spirit and local botanicals that can be found growing wild across the city.

Vibrant emerald in colour and delightfully spiced, The award-winning Devil’s Botany Absinthe Regalis is copper pot distilled with premium British wheat spirit and 22 botanicals sourced from around the world, including Grand Wormwood, Green Anise, Fennel Seed, Sage, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cardamom, Galangal and Devil’s Claw Root.

TASTING NOTES

Appearance: Vibrant emerald colour
Nose: Anise & fennel is followed by luxurious spices such as cardamom and nutmeg.
Taste: Bittersweet grand wormwood, anise & fennel, followed by a kick of devilish spices
Finish: Complex and deeply aromatic. Slight bitterness from nettle and thistle with hints of mint
Overall: Grand wormwood, green anise and sweet fennel is enlivened by warming spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom–all once highly sought after symbols of luxury. The distillate is then coloured naturally in a second maceration process to achieve its emerald green hue from botanicals, including white dead nettle and milk thistle.

GIFT

Devil’s Botany Absinthe Regalis makes a great gift for anyone who is into absinthes, the occult or unique and interesting products in general. Produced right here in East London, it’s also a great way to support local business and if absinthe isn’t your thing, they also make a fantastic gin.

CONNOISSEUR

The inspiration for Devil’s Botany Absinthe Regalis arose from a curious elixir discovered in an apothecary’s recipe book dating from 1719. Resurrecting London’s untold absinthe history, the instructions for this once-forgotten botanical spirit revealed a key to the British origins of absinthe that had previously remained unknown. London’s dram-drinkers were already enjoying an early example of absinthe distilled by the city’s apothecaries nearly a century before the first absinthe distilleries opened elsewhere in the world. Prescribed to raise one’s spirits, this noble aperitif has been praised for its revitalising flavour for over 300 years.
