Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
Released in batches, the Tempest is a cask-strength expression released by the Bowmore Distillery to really show off the fruitier and floral notes of their whisky. Using first-fill ex-Bourbon casks only, aromatic vanillas, citrus and nutty characteristics are present amongst the typical smog and brine of Bowmore.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Pale amber.
Nose: Oily citrus, dense, sweet smoke and vanilla.
Taste: Dried seaweed, macadamia nuts with salted caramel.
Finish: Spicy peppercorns, vanilla and an oily, smokey brine.
Overall: Hot and spicy due to being cask strength, but underneath there is a lot of oily citruses, smoke and sea notes. Makes me think of hardened sailors trying to avoid suffering from scurvy.

Gift

This isn’t a malt for the light-hearted. Bowmore, even at it’s most approachable, isn’t something you’d want to offer first time scotch drinkers. Get this whisky for those who enjoy a punchy, peaty, Islay dram but are looking for something even bigger.

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Bowmore Tempest 10, you could also try Jura Superstition, Ardbeg 10 or Laphroaig 10.

Connoisseur

Scotch whisky is a very broad category consisting of various styles, regions and production methods. It is unclear whether Ireland or Scotland was the first to produce whisky but it is likely that the practice became common in both countries concurrently. It is commonly thought that the knowledge of distillation was brought to Scotland (and Ireland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.

DISTILLERY
Bowmore Distillery.

ABOUT THE DISTILLERY
Whisky made on the island of Islay, from one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland.

ABOUT THE LIQUID
Adding a touch of water to this dram is recommended as it helps draw out the lighter fruit notes.

INGREDIENTS
.Water, Malted Barley, Yeast.
