With over 250 years of history producing gin, Bombay Sapphire is the lighter, more vibrant (much) younger sibling to the Original Bombay Dry Gin. The addition of two botanicals, grains of paradise and cubeb berries soften the usually punchy juniper notes. This creates a more floral gin with a warming peppery finish.
TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Crystal.
Nose: Sweet citrus and aromatic juniper.
Taste: Fresh coriander, lavender and lemon peel followed by earthy vegetal notes.
Finish: Sweet, floral juniper and freshly cracked peppercorns.
Overall: A smooth, refreshing gin full of lively botanicals. The soft, sweeter notes of juniper are more pronounced making this gin more approachable than the average London Dry. While the peppery finish keeps things vibrant and interesting.

Connoisseur
Bombay make a big deal around their use of vapour distilling their botanicals. This uses a specialist still, in Bombay’s case, a Carterhead still. Instead of steeping their botanicals directly into the spirit, they are placed in basket above the neutral grain spirit as it distills. The vapours rise through the basket picking up flavours as it does, they believe this extracts a purer flavour than boiling their spirit.

Bombay have recently renovated the site at Laverstoke, previously it was a 300-year-old papermill. All due consideration has been made to ensure the site is as sustainable and efficient as possible.
