FULL DESCRIPTION
12 year old Aultmore single malt Scotch whisky, unveiled in 2014 for the Last Great Malts by Dewar’s. A refreshing dram, with plenty of vanilla, honey and citrus, alongside a touch of grassiness. It’s been quite a while since a distillery bottling of Aultmore has been released, so this is all rather exciting indeed.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Golden pine
Nose: Fresh and vibrant with crunchy apples and pears, floral notes and gentle creaminess.
Taste: Richer than the nose suggests, with fruit, sweet pastry, custard and more floral notes.
Finish: Vanilla nougat, which combines the cream and slight nutty orientation. It possesses an engaging texture that doesn’t outstay its welcome. Green olives spring to mind alongside and a floral note before it settles into a fruity body and finish
Overall: A great entry level dram that no one would refuse.

Running the stills slow helps to maximise reflux, but the shape also allows some heavier elements to come across. In character, therefore, Aultmore shares some of the same characters as Linkwood – fragrant on the nose, substantial on the tongue.
