Description

FULL DESCRIPTION
The Superstition combines two different malts, one being sweet, fruity and easy-going, everything we have come to expect with the Jura malts. The other is a big, bold, peaty malt, similar to that of an Isla style. Despite this, the Superstition manages to retain its mellow sweetness. This is probably due to the ratios of the two malts used, the peated malt only comprising around 13% of the total malt.

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Rosy amber.
Nose: A sweet smoke of honey and oak.
Taste: Lemon honey and roasted malt with clove.
Finish: Smoked meat and a slight oiliness which extends the finish.
Overall: An approachable, peated malt full of sweet honey notes and warming spice with hints of citrus fruit.

Gift

An excellent choice for those who like a bit of smoke and peat in their whisky, but don’t want to have their socks blown off. Also, a great introduction into the world of peated scotch for those wanting to make the dive.

RECOMMENDATIONS
If the person you’re buying for is a fan of the Jura Superstition, you could also try Old Pulteney 12 or Highland Park 12.

Connoisseur

Scotch whisky is a very broad category consisting of various styles, regions and production methods. It is unclear whether Ireland or Scotland was the first to produce whisky but it is likely that the practice became common in both countries concurrently. It is commonly thought that the knowledge of distillation was brought to Scotland (and Ireland) by monks returning from the Mediterranean and the Middle East in around 1000AD.
