Georgie Sweet

On Tuesday, Georgie Sweet joined us in the Cellar Bar for the second TT Live Session of the year.

TT Liquor

Georgie Sweet is a hugely talented young vocalist who began her musical journey at a very young age, inspired by her mother, who was also a professional singer. Georgie began working with her mentor and frequent collaborator Deborah Jordan after they met during a school music lesson and went on to hone her distinctive style and songwriting abilities through sessions at the headquarters of their Bournemouth based label, Futuristica Music.

Georgie’s influences range from contemporary acts such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Thundercat and Erykah Badu to inspirational artists from the past including George Duke, Michael McDonald and Earth Wind And Fire.

In 2020 Georgie Sweet released her debut LP Misunderstood. Produced with the help of a dream team of collaborators from the Futuristica imprint including Simon S, Mecca:83, K15 and Theo Howarth. Misunderstood showcases Sweet’s mellow, emotive style of neo-soul and future R&B with a carefully curated combination of foot-tapping MPC beats, subtle electronic sounds and eclectic live instrumentation. Her debut received critical acclaim from the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC6 Music) who called it ‘incredible’ and Jazz Fm’s Tony Minvielle who referred to Sweet as ‘something special’.

In 2021, Sweet’s track Circles appeared on Futurstica’s 32 track collaborative compilation album Futuristica 15, she was a featured vocalist on the title track from Children Of Zeus’s album Balance and in 2022 Georgie released her most recent single Energy.

Georgie was joined by producer, keys player and frequent collaborator Marc Rapson and the pair put on an incredible performance. Georgie Sweet’s unique voice filtered to every corner of the Cellar Bar filling the room with a soulful warmth. At times subtle and quiet, at times boisterous, Georgie’s range and Marc effortlessly gliding up and down on the keys was a sight to behold.

TT Head of Music Chris P Cuts built the vibes early on, playing a couple of gems from his collection alongside newer Neo-Soul & R&B and continuing after the performance to keep the crowd tapping their toes and sipping their cocktails till close.

Georgie Sweet was a pleasure to host and a privilege to watch and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for her next for this incredibly talented young artist.

  • Our music philosophy, in one word, is “SOULFUL.” It’s a journey through Disco, Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk and everything in between coming in two forms; intimate, stripped-back live sessions, featuring new performers on the first Tuesday of every month, and resident DJs and guest headliners taking care of the soundtrack throughout the building the rest of the time.

All our music programming is curated by head of music Chris P Cuts.
