TT Cinema X King of Soho Gin - Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels Review:
Mid-June, TT Cinema put on an evening of dry gin, dry wit and blood-soaked gangsters as we turned back the clock and screened Guy Ritchie's classic breakthrough hit: Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.
Mid-June, TT Cinema put on an evening of dry gin, dry wit and blood-soaked gangsters as we turned back the clock and screened Guy Ritchie’s classic breakthrough hit: Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.
To mark the occasion, we teamed up with London Gin Royalty in The King of Soho for the bespoke bar menu on the day – designed in order to showcase our bar team’s appreciation for the innovative brand and all things juniper.
The centrepiece we dubbed simply ‘A Refreshing Drink’, a homage to Jason Statham’s iconic quip at Samoan Joe’s. Placing The King of Soho London Gin firmly at its base, we added Italicus Liqueur, Pineapple, Lime & London Essence Rhubarb & Rosemary Tonic to round the whole thing off.
Rainforest or not, it looked damn tasty and went down a treat.
Aside from that, attendees could peruse the entirety of our extensive bar menu, or opt for a beer from our well-stocked fridges in the liquor store.
Liquid refreshments well and truly sorted, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones and co. took care of the visual spectacle.
The rip-roaring expletive-laden caper showed our guests just why it brought Ritchie international acclaim back in 1998, introduced actors Jones – a former footballer – and Statham – a former diver – to worldwide audiences, and even spawned a short-lived (and ill-fated) TV show of the same name.
It’s breathless narrative pace, witty and outstandingly-executed script, and rollercoaster-style plot made it a big hit with our crowd, who chuckled and face-palmed their way through to the film’s frenzied, bouzouki-laden climax.
So overall, this fourth outing of TT Cinema was another great success and we’re very grateful to all who came through our doors this time round.
Looking ahead, we’re taking a small hiatus from our TT Cinema activities so you all can enjoy the beautiful summer weather we’re being blessed with, but we will be returning to lift you out of those post-summer blues with a screening of uplifting French rom-com Amélie on 21st August. This will be a screening with a supper-club twist, so something a little different there to look forward to.
So don’t worry if you missed out this time round, for there is plenty more to look forward to on the horizon. Hit the link below and sign up to our dedicated TT Cinema mailing list for full details of this – as well as our other future screenings.
