London Cocktail Week 2017: Dewar’s Scotch Egg Club Emporium
By TATTON & THOMPSON
London Cocktail Week 2017 saw Dewar’s and TT Liquor excitedly team up to produce and coordinate two successful nights of chickens, games, scotch eggs and – of course – quality double aged Dewar’s 12 Scotch whiskey.
During the event, which marked the highly anticipated launch of The Scotch Egg Club Emporium at TT Liquor’s three-floor venue in Shoreditch, attendees were treated to a plethora of playful activities, carefully curated cocktails, and tasty scotch egg and whisky pairings across three of our multi-faceted studios.
The historic character and oaken aesthetic of our downstairs Liquor Store meant it took no real leap of imagination for it to be transformed into a veritable Whisky Emporium of yesteryear, with Mr Tommy Dewar himself in attendance to welcome guests into his universe – all accompanied by tantalising wisps of whisky vapour and a taster of Dewar’s 12-year aged blended Scotch.
Venturing upstairs to TT’s striking Attic Room, one was greeted by the weird and wonderful Scotch Egg Club in all its glory.
Guests could opt for a quick tattoo, get competitive with chicken thumb wars or whiskey highball pong, try their luck with a raucous game of chicken bingo, or simply kick back and enjoy one of our individually crafted whisky-based cocktails made by TT’s expert bartenders.
Paying homage to Dewar’s was the ‘East and West’ cocktail – a dash of Dewars 12 followed by Belsazar Rose, zingy Lemon Juice and sweet Pandan & Pear Syrup.
Not to play favourites, the other big names of Scotch whiskey like Aberfeldy and Craigellachie also got their chance to shine, with tastings in shop and at the event.
‘The 1898’ cocktail provided a liquid platform for Aberfeldy 12, which was accompanied by Triana Sherry, Cherry Liqueur and Spicy Bitters, while the ‘Rocky Hill’ brought the best out of the Craigellachie 13 by tempering it with Castro Vermouth Bianco and fragrant Benedictine.
Before long, TT’s underground Cellar Bar opened its doors so guests could enjoy their bespoke cocktails while exploring our intimate bar and vaults.
All the while, three tempting varieties of Scotch egg were making their way out of our kitchen to give attendees something tasty to wash down with their whisky.
At the end of an exciting and highly successful couple of nights, guests left the inaugural Scotch Egg Club Emporium at TT with stomachs full, beverages emptied, and perceptions of Scotch whisky and chickens permanently altered.
