Cocktail Making Classes

Be taught by our in-house mixologists to make (then drink) a selection of five seasonal cocktails at one of TT Liquor’s fully interactive cocktail making classes. All our classes focus on 100% involvement – every guest uses fine liquor, fresh ingredients and specialist equipment to make their own cocktails in their own area behind one of our custom-built cocktail bars, with a maximum of 4-5 people per bar.

Our cocktail making classes last two hours and can be hosted at our Shoreditch home at 17B Kingsland Road. We also have the ability, via our sister company Mixology Events, to take our cocktail classes to almost any venue in London or throughout the U.K.

Other Venues

We have multiple venues across London. Although our Shoreditch home is of course worth a visit, we have a range of purpose-built venues spanning the capital. Why not explore and have a good look at each of our venues, check out the features, and see which one is perfect for your event?

Inside flagship venues liquor store

Our Shoreditch HQ is a unique venue, purpose-built for our range of interactive cocktail making classes, which makes it the only one of its kind.

Set over four diverse floors, our building is packed with permanent masterclass lounges, all of which come fully equipped and ready to go. The studios are all of varying sizes, too, which means we can work with you to recommend the perfect space for your party – whether you are a small and intimate group or a larger class utilising all the space the venue has to offer.

As well as this, Mixology Events’ dedicated events team are also based in our permanent offices on the top floor of the building, meaning they are never too far away to be of assistance. They will always be on hand to showcase our studios, explain the class format, or discuss taking our 100% interactive classes to any of our sister venues across London and the UK.

TT Liquor - Mixology Flagship venue in Shoreditch

We’re located on the Shoreditch end of Kingsland Road, near Jaguar Shoes, just past the bridge.

The nearest train stations are Hoxton Overground, Old Street, Liverpool Street, and Shoreditch High Street – all of which are a short stroll away. We also have a wide range of bus options a mere stone’s throw from our front door.

View of bar area at TT Liquor cellar bar

Tucked away underneath our liquor store is our atmospheric cocktail bar, the Cellar Bar. Featuring low-hanging beams, a range of seating arrangements, and ex-Victorian police cells which we’ve converted into tasting vaults, the Cellar Bar enjoys a bustling trade with a number of locals and regulars sampling our seasonally-rotating cocktail list.

Regular live acts, as well as resident DJs, take care of the soulful soundtrack. Why not take advantage and head down for a nightcap after your class?

Inside TT Liquor, off licence

The face of the business, and the first sight to meet customers upon walking through our doors, is our specialist liquor store. Its hand-crafted wooden shelves are packed with a hand-picked and ever-rotating selection of rare bottles, customer favourites, and a wide range of produce from some of our favourite local independent producers. Have a browse before or after your class and see if there’s anything that takes your fancy.

Arial photo of roof terrace on top of the TT Liquor

Perched atop the building is the latest addition to the TT Liquor panoply – our urban private members’ roof terrace. Featuring panoramic views of the city, a seasonal cocktail menu, freshly-made pizza, and Prosecco on tap, this space can cater for groups of up to 80 and has already successfully played host to a range of branded and private events. Why not book it out for a few pre-or-post-class cocktails?

View of chairs inside the cinema at TT Liquor

Our labyrinthine home contains a fair few surprises, but none quite as good as the hidden 52-seat vintage theatre tucked away behind our liquor store.

Its considerable size, acoustics, and quiet location – set back away from the hustle and bustle of Shoreditch’s Kingsland Road – means it can be used for a wide variety of purposes. For example, as well as film screenings, it’s a great setting for business meetings, presentations, classes and workshops, and after-dinner speakers. So, if you’d like to host a presentation before your class, or perhaps watch a film afterwards, let us know and we’ll be able to arrange something for you.

At TT Liquor, we have a wide range of options of varying sizes and styles to choose from in terms of finding your ideal cocktail making studio.

They’re all designed to be as versatile as possible, and so make great meeting spaces, pop-up showrooms, temporary galleries, presentation spaces, and much more. We’ve even had entire building takeovers across the whole space, which have been as varied as they have been successful.

We’ll happily accommodate other uses depending on your requirements. Check out some of our case studies to gather some inspiration for your upcoming event.

West wing room at TT Liquor full of cocktail bars

Our West Wing is probably our most popular space, boasting an abundance of natural light and a sleek, post-industrial aesthetic. It is the largest studio in the building, and consists of open, flexible space in a sprawling L-shape, making it suitable for parties of nearly any size – from 10 to 100.

View from behind a cocktail bar

It is our mid-sized studio and is virtually square in proportion, consisting of adaptable space with a capacity of up to 30 people. Like all of our rooms, The Aviation Room benefits from an abundance of natural light, which pours through the traditionally tall timber window frames.

Cocktail on bar top in our palm room (palm wallpaper)

We’re strong believers in the atmosphere, and our Palm Room is a space that possesses that in spades, benefitting from original floorboards, exposed brickwork, and unique décor. The 16SQM space boasts high ceilings, excellent natural light, and can comfortably accommodate up to 15 people.

Selection of meats on a bar top

One of the newer additions to the range of spaces at TT Liquor is the Botanical Room. Located in a commanding position at the very top of the building, this room shares many of its proportions with the Aviation Room, meaning it consists of adaptable, stylish, and well-lit space – perfect for groups of up to 30 people.

Featuring full views of our newly-refurbished garden roof terrace and a characteristically sleek post-industrial aesthetic, the juniper room is an adaptable studio perfect for groups of up to 15 people. Also featuring its own exclusive staircase for ease of access, the Juniper Room is a great space for private groups.

More Class Information

Equipment & interactivity

Each guest’s bar station is also equipped with all the necessities in every good bartender’s armoury, including stainless steel shakers, strainers, muddlers, bar spoons, Mexican elbows, and more. Having multiple pieces of each maximises the amount of time each participant spends getting hands-on making their own cocktails.

Variety & quality of ingredients

We offer a rotating cast of five seasonal cocktails during each of our classes – four class drinks and a competition cocktail at the end. Each stage and each drink has been designed to not only teach people a variety of techniques associated with cocktail making but to enlighten guests about what they’re drinking by shining a light on smaller brands and emphasising the journey behind each premium ingredient.

Make five cocktails

We teach you how to make (and drink) five cocktails behind your very own bar station. Our seasonally-rotating cocktail menus have a little something in there for everyone. We also offer non-alcoholic and vegan-friendly options for each drink, meaning nobody gets left out.

Tanker cocktail sat on a bar top

Such a fun and wonderful experience! I expected to go in, make a couple of small cocktails in a large group but every time we each got a cocktail to ourselves and Kay was there to help us. Would recommend anyone thinking of booking to go for it, it was a lovely evening.

Non-alcoholic & vegan options

We believe our non-alcoholic options are as strong as our alcoholic ones, and we take care to use the best quality ingredients on the market to make non-drinkers’ experience with us as seamless and enlightening as possible. We also have a range of vegan options available, and can easily cater to a wide range of allergies and dietary requirements. Nobody gets left out.

Cocktail making competition

Who doesn’t like a bit of healthy competition? We like to end every single one of our classes – whether private or public – with a cocktail making competition, judged by your learned tutor, whereby guests compete against each other to produce their very own cocktail creation using their newfound skills, and the premium equipment and ingredients available to them.
We find that this is a great way to showcase your creativity and character, and works fantastically for networking and teambuilding. Bonus points for the best names!

Private classes

Take advantage of our unparalleled flexibility with a private class. Whatever and wherever the occasion, whether at our venue or in your back garden, our cocktail making classes have all the necessary ingredients.

Three women having fun making cocktails in a cocktail making class

Amazing cocktail class taught by Louana to my group of friends for my birthday! Louana is knowledgeable, patient, super fun and speaks French which was a great plus! Second time organizing an event with TT Liquor and didn’t disappoint - would 100% recommend!

Flexibility & customisation

Our private classes are 100% Flexible. We’ve been at this for over a decade, and this experience allows us to carefully cater our classes to a wide range of preferences & customisation requirements.

We are able to tweak the number of cocktails in our line-up, the theme of the class, the format of the competition at the end of the session, or even tweak individual drinks to match dietary requirements or personal preference, allowing us to tailor our classes to suit nearly every occasion imaginable.

We are also able to offer our classes both physically and online, tweak the start times and class duration/length to suit you, or split the cocktail making up for a break in between to help work it into a wider event. Simply let your dedicated event organiser know your requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Great mixology class with Jamal! He made it fun, informative, and he went out of his way to incorporate requests and make recommendations so that everyone was satisfied. I would definitely recommend this as a team bonding event or even for a night out with friends!

Team

We have a dedicated and personal team of event organisers based at our Shoreditch home. The same event organiser will stay with you from planning and booking your event, on the day and post-event.

You’re more than welcome to come down to visit our unique, purpose-built class set-up to have a look around in person, meet your dedicated event organiser and stick around for a well-deserved cocktail afterwards, or we can organise a site visit to your preferred venue.

Our entire team, from your hosts to our head office, have years of experience in the industry, with Mixology Events, and with TT Liquor. They each go through rigorous training to learn how to deliver the best events on the market.

We’re more than just bartenders

Our hosts are of course experts in their field, but they’re also pretty damn nice people to have around. We’re also pros at hosting events since this is our bread and butter. You don’t need to just take our word for it, either…

Mixologist hosting a cocktail making class at the lead bar

Thank you so much for putting on a fantastic cocktail class for our team Winter Party. Thank you especially to Aicha, who was our instructor for the class. Aicha was incredibly professional and helpful, and she was especially amazing at making the class fun, entertaining and memorable.

Food

At TT Liquor, we’re almost as passionate about our food as we are about our drink, exemplified through our long-lasting relationships with a variety of supper clubs, pop-ups, and culinary up-and-comers.

More recently, we’ve joined forces with Good Fired Pizza, who’ve taken up permanent residence in the kitchen on our second floor. They take pride in their craft and have quickly mastered the art of making dough that’s crispy and chewy in all the right places. They’re happy to rustle up a pizza or six for your party to enjoy before, during, or after your class.

We’ve also teamed up with Cobble Lane Cured to curate a range of deli boards and bar snacks, available across all our venues, which make for brilliant cocktail making class accompaniments. We have great vegan and vegetarian options for all of the above, meaning – as always – nobody is left out.

More add-ons

There are a variety of options when it comes to customising your class add-ons, from special professional cocktail kits as prizes for the competition winners at the end of the masterclass, special discounts down in our liquor store, vouchers, group memberships, and much more.

Simply bring it up with your dedicated event organiser and they’ll be more than happy to help you organise something special.

Virtual Classes

Inspired by the lockdown era, our virtual cocktail classes provide an environment in which to be sociable despite the distance between us.

These classes, broadcast live via Zoom, follow a similar structure to our award-winning physical ones. About us & Case Studies

TT Liquor and Mixology Events are sister companies, both based out of our flagship venue on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch, east London.

TT Liquor is a multifaceted building, with four floors dedicated to all things related to high-quality alcoholic beverages. As well as a liquor store, TT Liquor is home to a cocktail bar, cinema space, roof terrace, and a series of events spaces upstairs – where our range of award-winning cocktail classes are largely held, as well as other branded and private events, supper clubs, and now our virtual classes.

Mixology Events, as the name suggests, is the events arm of our business, and provides the mixologists to lead our award-winning range of classes. Since being set up in 2009, Mixology Events has been dedicated to all things related to high-quality alcoholic beverages. We offer an extensive range of experiences – from tastings and bar hires, to award-winning 100% interactive cocktail classes which we’ve taken with us on the road to a huge range of venues across the UK and beyond.

Read on for some of our selected case studies and see if we can provide some inspiration for your event:

The head offices of high street retailer, TopShop, came to our flagship venue ion Shoreditch, TT Liquor, to experience one of our award-winning cocktail making classes.

We have hosted TopShop on a number of occasions – they seem to enjoy our cocktail making classes, and keep coming back! The 50 guests were served a welcoming cocktail in our West Wing, before each learned how to make an espresso martini, a gin-based honey and basil fizz, a grapefruit and pomegranate margarita and a zombie (drinking their own creations along the way, of course!)

...

The guests were then split into teams of 4 or 5 and showcased their creative abilities and competed against the rest, designing cocktails of their own in a cocktail making competition. The winners received one of our professional-standard cocktail kits as a prize!

We’re able to host cocktail making classes of any size at our Shoreditch venue, or at any venue of your choice throughout London or the UK. If you have somewhere in mind, please get in contact with our events organisers.

General Cocktail Class FAQs

We host the majority of our public masterclasses at TT Liquor, where we have 4 dedicated masterclass lounges that are fully set up when you arrive – freeing you up to make cocktails continuously for 2 hours without waiting for anyone to set anything up for you.

We provide you with your own professional bartender, who will be your dedicated host for the session. After putting together a reception cocktail for you and your guests, they will then guide you through 4 different cocktails, letting all your guests in on the various tricks of the trade to make your drinks taste better than ever. The perfect skills for your guests to take away with them to show off to their friends at their next garden party or barbecue.

You receive a welcome drink, make 4 cocktails each and in teams make a competition cocktail to present to the class.

No. Each bar comes fully stocked, so that everyone on that bar (max 5 guests per bar) can make cocktails throughout their masterclass, with no interruption and no standing around watching. At our flagship Shoreditch venue, we can perform a masterclass for up to 210 guests, all still receiving the same experience and all still making cocktails together!

Our expert bartenders are at the very top of their profession and are rigorously trained to deliver the best cocktail making experience possible for groups of up to 80. Their job is to be entertaining and engaging with all your guests, while simultaneously offering unparalleled insights on how to make your cocktails taste amazing. You may not get it right the first time around, but they will work attentively with each member of your group to hone their skills.

Our cocktail classes can be enjoyed by budding mixologists from 18 years of age and above. Everything we do is geared towards making it an event to remember for you and your group.

Yes, of course, we pride ourselves on our inclusivity and flexibility. We are able to seamlessly swap out alcoholic components with some of the best premium non-alcoholic products on the market, meaning nobody is left out. Please be aware that we cannot teach the molecular class as mocktails as the drinks rely on the alcoholic content to work.

Vouchers

You can buy a voucher from our website (maybe clickable link?). Alternatively, give us a call on 020 8003 7982 and we’ll happily book them over the phone for you.

They last 12 months exactly from the purchase date. If something comes up and you give us a call within that time frame, get in touch and we can be pretty flexible when it comes to extending them.

As soon as we receive a voucher order they’re sent out via first class post. Depending on how busy Royal Mail is, you’ll usually receive your physical vouchers in 2-3 working days.

Yes, of course. If you purchase them and just give us a call straight afterwards, or drop us an email, we’ll respond to let you know whether you can pick them up. Generally, if the liquor store is open you’ll be able to collect them in person. The shop is open Monday-Wednesday from midday-10pm, and Thursday-Saturday from midday-11pm.

Yes, we do. We can send printer-friendly vouchers over to you via email so there’s no need for you to wait for the postman.

The vouchers give you unparalleled flexibility when booking onto our public classes. Essentially, you don’t have to choose a specific date for your session – it’s an open voucher. We run our classes twice a week, generally – Friday from 7pm-9pm and Saturdays from 1pm-3pm. They work really well as a gift, for example, if you know someone who would love to come to one of our classes but you don’t know an exact date they’re perfect.

Our vouchers are non-refundable but we will be happy to reschedule you to a more suitable date.

Accessibility & location

We’re afraid our disabled access at our flagship Shoreditch venue is very limited at the moment. However, we do have a variety of other venues across London and the UK which have ample disabled access. Please highlight any disabilities in your party with your event organiser beforehand, and we’ll happily advise on a suitable venue.

Yes, of course. We have catered for deaf classes before, and generally the clients will have organised an interpreter. Again, let your event organiser know beforehand and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

No, unfortunately not in the classrooms for hygiene reasons.

No, due to our licence under 18s will not be able to attend your class in any capacity at any venue – non-alcoholic cocktails or not.

Our studios are about a 8 minute walk from Old Street Station. Once through the gates of Old Street tube we recommend taking the first right and exiting via Subway 1 and turn right at the end. On street level, you’ll see Albert House looming up to your right. Continue along Old Street and you’ll soon pass a big fire station on your left. If you continue following the road for another 5 minutes, you’ll soon reach Shoreditch Town Hall & the Bike Shed. Once you reach the intersection just past these landmarks, turn left and continue up Kingsland Road for 3 minutes until you reach a railway bridge. We’re on the other side of that, to the left.

Our purpose-built studios are about a 10 minute walk from Shoreditch High Street Station. You can take the 149 or the 242 from bus stop L on Shoreditch High Street. Take a left from the station. Take a left on Bethnal Green Road and walk right to the end, on to Shoreditch High Street – you should pass the Boxpark on your left. Continue along Shoreditch High Street until you reach the Old Street intersection. Once you reach the Old Street intersection, cross right over at the lights and continue north on Kingsland Road for 3 minutes until you reach a railway bridge. We’re on the other side of that, to the left.

TT Liquor is about a 15 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station. First off, take the Bishopsgate (West) exit. Once on street level, if you’re waking (15 mins), take a left. You can also use bus routes 26 (Stop F) or 149 (Stop E) to Waterson Street (Stop V). Once off the bus, turn right. TT liquor is located 50 yards on the left. If you’re walking, continue to walk north on Bishopsgate towards Shoreditch High Street. Cross over Great Eastern Street and on to Shoreditch High Street, then continue walking until you reach the Old Street intersection, near Shoreditch Church. Once you reach the intersection, cross straight over and continue north on Kingsland Road until you reach a railway bridge. We’re on the other side of that, to the left.

Private Classes

Yes. If you take us on privately and have a location in mind, we are also specialists in bringing the complete set up with us. All the bars, with all the equipment, all the liquor, fresh products and ice. You simply let us know where you would like it to be and we set it all up in less than an hour and a half. We then offer the same experience you find at TT Liquor at any location you can think of.

All your really need is an empty space for us to come and set up in, we can come to offices, houses, gardens, tents, rooftops… as long as we have the space and the access we can set up anywhere, you don’t need anything on your side at all.

We’d recommend you allow a space of about a meter and a half depth and a meter and a half-width for each bar. That allows enough space for the bars to be set up and for people to stand behind them. The bars are assembled on-site and pack down to be fairly compact so there’s no need to really worry about door-width.

We’re happy to work with most spaces but for instance, in an office, it wouldn’t work in a room full of desks. We also try and avoid using spaces with lots of columns or other obstacles that might block people’s view of the instructor. Anything on a slope wouldn’t be ideal either. We are based in London and are happy to come and do a site visit anywhere in the city if you’re unsure whether or not your space would be suitable.

Absolutely, we can do a class at any time of day, week or year. We just need enough time to set up all the bars beforehand and break them down again afterwards. This is usually between about an hour and two hours either side of the class depending on the size. We can be very flexible when coming to you.

Depending on your group size we will need 1 ½ – 2 hours before and after your class to set up and break down.

All we need is a clear space to set up. We will bring everything we need to host the class including, the bars, equipment, glassware, ingredients, ice etc.

Yes we have hosted classes outside before, just be aware we will need a flat ground to set up the bars properly.

We are based in London but can travel anywhere you need us. We have hosted cocktail masterclasses in Scotland all the way to Cornwall.

Currently we can offer; our classic masterclass, gin masterclass, rum masterclass, whisky masterclass, tiki masterclass, non-alcoholic masterclass, and virtual versions of all the above.

We are able to add food to most events at most venues upon request. At our flagship venue in Shoreditch, we have Good Fired Pizza who have taken up residence in our kitchen and are able to provide Neapolitan pizzas. We are also able to offer a variety of deli and charcuterie boards courtesy of Cobble Lane Cured.

Yes, it is certainly recommended. As you can imagine during two hours of making and drinking cocktails, it’s quite a good idea to line your stomachs. Even if the addition of food is a relatively last-minute decision, we will be able to cater to your needs if you get in touch with your event organiser at least 24 hours beforehand.

We usually serve pizza, bar snacks and deli boards at the beginning of your class with your welcome cocktail, but you can discuss this with your event organiser.

Yes we can offer vegetarian or vegan options, please ask your event organiser for details about our full range.

Shoreditch is packed with great places to eat, and you won’t need to spend an arm and a leg. A few we recommend are: Dishoom, Pizza East, Blues Kitchen, Princess of Shoreditch, 100 Hoxton, Tramshed. Click here to read our full list of recommendations, and for more information about what to expect at each.

No, there’s no dress code per se. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, bearing in mind you will be on your feet for around two hours. If you’re coming in fancy dress, please ensure that you highlight this to your event organiser beforehand. Nothing too crude or crass, but generally you’re in a private room so you can come pretty much as you wish.

Refunds & changes of plan

This will be shared when you make your booking, but we’ll need your confirmed numbers 7 days before the class is scheduled. This ideally will be conducted via email with your event organiser, who will send you your final invoice. If there are any changes less than 7 days before your class, it is unlikely that we will be able to amend the final invoice, so please keep in touch with your event organiser.

Generally, after a conversation with your event organiser about your event, you will need to put down a 30% deposit to confirm your booking and provide a home or company address to detail. This will all be sent over via email, along with the terms and conditions outlined. The final balance will be due a week before your class or event, generally once numbers are confirmed.

Once we have sent you the deposit invoice your event has been confirmed, therefore if you wish to cancel your event you must do this by email so we have written proof and you must do this at least 14 days prior to your event date to be eligible for a refund of your deposit. If you have booked your event with less than 7 days lead time, cancellation must be received within 24 hours of your invoice being sent to avoid liability of payment.

The balance of your event must be paid 7 days before your event, if payment has not been made someone from our accounts team will contact you to make payment over the phone.
